It's About Time

I've been standing by the sidelines for far too long. It's time to stop being cynical and standing around saying that nobody lines up completely with my political sympathies. No one is going to. No one electable, anyway. So, I've decided it's time to take a stand. I'm officially coming out as an Obama supporter. I think with a President Obama at the helm, at least people stand a chance of having their voices be heard. Let's do it.

Blech. I've had enough rhetoric and inexperience from this president. I'm for Hillary. Sure, she's not perfect. It would have been nice if she read the NIE pre-Iraq war (assuming she's not one of the mere 6 congressmen who did), and voted not to empower this president. We'll never know how Obama would have voted since he wasn't yet a Senator, but that doesn't stop him from touting "I never supported the war". I wonder how long he worked full time as a Senator? 1 year? Also, his anti-status quo message is very compelling, but I wonder how far that will go when cooperating with a Democratically controlled legislative branch? It would be a shame for the next president (who I deeply hope will be a Democrat) to miss the chance to ram through some decent bills in the Senate before the balance of power shifts out of our favor.
For the record, I don't deeply dislike Obama. He and Hillary are the two best candidates since Bill was elected. I just happen to think Hill-dog would be a better choice.
note: I did not intend to directly compare Obama to Bush. Any fair comparison involving Bush should involve a learning-disabled chimp with a mean streak.

Obama was a state senator and did a TON of bipartisan work for a decade in the contentious atmosphere of Chicago politics. If experience past the state level is a prerequisite for political efficacy, then how the hell did we end up with a Bush Jr. presidency?

This has absolutely nothing to do with my like or dislike of him as a candidate, but when I saw the poster you included in this post, I thought that it looked like a Pepsi ad and thought that since his campaign has the momentum of a runaway freight train (to quote The Simpsons), that maybe there is a chance for corporate sponsorship here:
Obama: The choice of a new generation.

Sadly, voters don't care that much for experience.
I'm glad Obama wasn't elected to the senate without political experience. However, what has his experience been in the federal govt? Foreign policy?
Frankly, I wish Hill-dog had more experience as a Senator.
I believe Bush Jr. got in based on his father's legacy and connections, cash spent, by viciously smearing his opponents, and thanks to plenty of apathetic voters disallusioned by Bill's blowjob while in office. Oh, and our ridiculous electoral college system and partisan Supreme Court.
Anyway, I will support Obama if he wins the nomination, which seems likely these days, and not because I am voting against the other guy for a change.
