The Birds encompasses work from 2005-present. This body of work grew out of a reenvisioning of the swallow, taken from American tattoo art, as a symbol of motherly love. The paintings started when I was pregnant, and have grown to encompass exploration of my growing, changing relationships with my family and larger community as a mother.
